I won’t be able to think of brilliant titles every day or so, so sometimes, the date will have to do!
Health! It’s been wet, chilly and today there is snow on the ground. While I enjoyed two walks on Wednesday, yesterday I stayed indoors all day. Not a great choice and one I need to change. Today the wind is blowing and I know my coat is not built for this challenge. On the plus side, I am enjoying my daughters tomato soup (from scratch) full of healthy vegetables, including a whole head of garlic (not just a clove or two!)
Wisdom: Somehow this moved to the middle part, so I’ll leave it there. I’m learning to see my life as a process that I move into. Still working through Designing Your Life. I’m reminded that life is flowing, changing, and navigating it is a process. I will never be done with it.
Personal Finances: They are depleting! I need to start my employment search now. One of the challenges is the needs of my family. They need to be considered when I’m applying and interviewing. I suspect online teaching and being a substitute, or something totally different will be the end result. We are working hard to eliminate waste in the kitchen – and garbage.
I’m not sure if this is my first post on becoming a grandmother, but I will, God willing, be holding my first grandbaby in about 15 weeks. And let me tell you….I am excited!
But yesterday was a bit of a stressful day for us – my daughter wasn’t feeling well. The baby wasn’t moving – which of course is a bit scary, especially when there’s been a lot of movement in the past!
So today I would just like to share a list of the things that I’m grateful for – things that I experienced yesterday.
- Everything is okay with mother and child – a flu bug, and a different baby position!
- The prayers of my friends, family and Facebook community.
- The medical care we receive here in Calgary, Alberta and Canada. Sometimes it may take a while, but we have it pretty darn good.
- The comfort God provides when you think it’s all going crazy.
As I was driving, I waffled between the tragedy that could be unfolding and the reality that God holds the world in His hands, and that includes the life of my wee, wee grandchild.
I am also reminded that being a parent and a grandparent is not just fun and games. There is also a great deal of faith-stretching that happens.
Yesterday I posted about making memories and what that can sometimes cost. Here’s what it sort of cost me:
$50 for groceries – we bought a cooked chicken, 3 pizzas, some 7 minute cooking rice, extra cheese for the pizza’s and camping this weekend. And some cookies for with the coffee.
In the evening I was convinced that $6 for PPV of Gnomeo and Juliet was a good deal. I’ve listened to it 3 times, just to get my money’s worth! Too funny, eh?
All in all, 5 adults and 6 children ate, played and watched TV at my house yesterday during the rain! There were no complaints, no whining, no fighting. It was a wonderful day. The highlight for me was a couch shot of all 6 kidlets eating pizza and watching the movie.
My sister and I did the shopping together and I got to introduce her to some of my friends at work. We played with yarn together and just had a good time.
The kids had a blast with the Playmobil and Lego I’ve kept from Emma’s childhood days.
Today we go camping at Dinosaur Provincial Park – a new adventure for me and more memories in the making.
“Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow” will be singing in my heart today!
Have a wonderful weekend.
