No shampoo? Really?

I have to say that it has been an interesting time.  Since my last post, I have used regular shampoo only once, and that was because I forgot to refill my supply, and I was already in the bath.

No one has made any comments about how bad my hair looks.  They are just surprised at how soft it feels.

So how do I feel about the experience?

I miss the lather.  There is something very tangible about lather in your hair.  Baking soda and water don’t cut it in that department.  It’s cold when I pour it on my head.  And somehow, I can’t get out of the habit of washing it twice.  I don’t think it’s necessary, but old habits die hard!

However, when I am faced with the plethora of hair care products, I’m glad I don’t need to make that decision.  If I’m desperate for a dose of lather, I’ll borrow my daughter’s or use some of what I have left over!

The dishwasher detergent experiment is also going well. (One part baking soda and one part borax – one tbsp. in the wash and the prewash containers) but I don’t use it much.  Maybe because I’m missing my hair lather, I’m enjoying the soap bubbles instead.

On the laundry soap front there is a bit of rebellion.  Apparently the towels and dishclothes (I knit my own) aren’t quite up to snuff.  Emma has resolved to buy some scented “real” stuff.  I wonder if adding vinegar would solve the problem.
